JC Robotics at Xavier VEXFest 2024 On Saturday, February 17th, our middle school robotics team (JC Robotics) went to St. Francis Xavier High School in Appleton to compete against 16 other middle school teams in the club’s first-ever VEX tournament. The team has worked all school year to develop a robot that plays a game called Over Under. In the game they can earn points scoring “triballs'' in a goal, moving the triballs around the game field and even lifting their robots off of the ground at the end of the match. The team ended up in 6th place after qualifying which ended up earning them the right to create the 4th seeded alliance in the knockout rounds. They lost in the quarterfinals to an alliance that pushed the 1st seeded Alliance in the semi-finals as the 1st seeded went on to win in the finals vs. the 2nd seed. For their first VEX competition ever, it can be said that they performed well while learning a lot about how to improve! For their efforts, they did get invited to the State Tournament in Green Bay to compete, however, they made the decision to focus on another competition coming up in May. They’ll check out this year’s State competition with having their sights set on next year! Here’s a link to their first-ever match.
